Monthly Mindful Mixers

Building community as a mixed race person can be challenging.

But building community with other mixed race people is a game-changer when it comes to feeling more confident about who you are.

Join me for this free mindfulness mixer I host almost every month, where you'll get to meet other mixed people and practice mindfulness in community.

The next Mindful Mixer is:
Monday June 5th, 2023
3:30-4:30 pm

Starting July 19:
Every 3rd Monday
5:30 pm
What can you expect?

We'll start with a brief mindfulness practice.

I'll pose a question or prompt for you to reflect on individually. Nothing too intense; just something to help you think about who you are. You can free write or draw to express your response.

Everyone will have a chance to share a little bit about their reflections. After anyone who wants to share does so, we'll have a little open dialogue where people can share what resonated with them from other peoples responses.

We'll close with a mindfulness practice, and then you'll be invited to connect with folks outside of the mixer.

Hi, I'm Raina.

I’m a Mixed (Black + white), Queer (she/her) somatic trauma therapist, yoga teacher, and speaker/facilitator on Anishaanabe land (Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA) specializing in racial trauma, identity and relationships.

I help mixed people and interracial couples people uncover who they are underneath their trauma so they can build healthy and satisfying relationships.

Mixer FAQs

Do I need to have mindfulness experience?

No! I will facilitate practices that are hopefully accessible to all. I also know some mindfulness practices don't feel great for everybody. I'll give you options.

What should I bring?

Bring a journal or art supplies; whatever will help you express yourself during the individual reflection.

Is this workshop for people like me?

If you identify as Mixed, mixed race, biracial, multiracial, or bi- or multicultural you are welcome to attend! I welcome my mixed sibs of all skin tones; I know sometimes my lighter-skinned mixed friends feel insecure about their mixed-ness. No judgement or assumptions here; if you feel like this workshop speaks at all to your experience you are welcome.

I can't attend live...should I still sign up?

This is a live only event with no recording.

Do I have to have my camera on?

Nope! I love seeing people's faces, but do what makes you most comfortable. Feel free to turn your camera on and off as you please.
